Why Christmas? Jesus Christ or Santa Claus?

Christmas or Christmas Day (Old English: Crīstesmæsse, literally "Christ's mass") is an annual commemoration of the birth of JesusChrist, celebrated generally on December 25 as a religious and cultural holiday by billions of people around the world.

The precise day of Jesus’ birth, which historians place between 7 and 2 BC, is unknown. In the early-to-mid 4th century, the WesternChristian Church first placed Christmas on December 25, a date later adopted also in the East.

Many of the popular celebratory customs associated in various countries with Christmas have pre-Christian or secular themes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift giving, Christmas music and caroling, an exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various decorations, including Christmas trees, lights, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, andholly. In addition, several closely related and often interchangeable figures, known as Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas and Kris Kringle among other names, are associated with bringing gifts to children during the Christmas season and have their own body of traditions and lore. Because gift-giving and many other aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, the holiday has become a significant event and a key sales period for retailers and businesses. The economic impact of Christmas is a factor that has grown steadily over the past few centuries in many regions of the world.

How did Jesus pray?

Mark 1:35
Jesus prayed for guidance in places of quiet solitude - “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed”

Luke 5:16
“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed”.

John 17:11
Jesus prayed for His disciples and for all believers -“Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name-the name you gave me-so that they may be one as we are one”.

John 17:20-21
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you”

Luke 10:21
Jesus prayed in praise to God, the Father - “At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, ‘I praise you, Father, lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure’” .

Mark 14:22
Jesus prayed prayers of thanksgiving - “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take it; this is my body’”

Matthew 26:39
Jesus prayed in a posture and with an attitude of reverent submission - “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will’”

Luke 22:44
Jesus prayed in times of anguish – “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground”

Matthew 27:46
“About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?’--which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’”

Matthew 6:5-15
This is “The Lord’s Prayer” when Jesus taught his disciples how to pray.

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Is Jesus Christ God or Man?

You can get more of the info at my other posts and videos.

Jesus Christ is God. He created Adam and Eve, the first man and woman in the garden of Eden in his image. He is the Creator of the whole universe. The Bible says, “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3). This includes all the stars, all the original animalsand plants, and even the angels (Colossians 1:15-17).

There may be confusion on some people that did God created Jesus? No. God did not create Jesus. Jesus is actually God, and he has always existed since the beginning.

Jesus is God by doing many miracles things that only God could do. He resurrected dead to be alive. He walked across a great lake. He made blind eyes see perfectly again. He drove out demons. He healed deadly diseases.

The exciting truth is that Jesus is now also a man, and will remain so for all eternity. He humbled himself to become like one of his own creations. Jesus only claimed that he is the son of man in the beginning. He only claimed that he is the Son of God later. He even did not deny when Matthew called him Son of God.

MATTHEW 14:31-32
Immediately Jesus reached out his and and caught him."You of little faith," he said "Why did you doubt?"
And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshipped him, saying, "Trully you are the Son of God"
Jesus did not deny.

JOHN 20:28-29
Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
Then Jesus told him." Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.".....
Jesus did not deny.

He chose to become a man (in human form) to help us which happened almost 2000 years ago.

The part of God that is called the Holy Spirit created God's human body inside of a woman named Mary(Matthew 1:20). God went into this human body that grew inside of Mary. The baby was born and grew into a man.

At various times in the past, Jesus had appeared to people in human form. One example is when he appeared to Abraham just before the judgment of the evil cities of Sodom andGomorrah. But now, for the first time in history, God did not simply appear as man, he became fully human. Yet, he is still God. He is both God and man. The main difference is that he is SINLESS compared to us.

As a man, God experienced the same temptations that we feel (Hebrews 2:18) (see also Matthew 4:1-11).

1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”

7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ "

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

He suffered the same kind of physical pains that we suffer with. He also experienced emotional pain. He even wept about the city of Jerusalem (John 11:35). He was ignored, unappreciated, unloved, misunderstood, and even despised—even though he did nothing wrong, and always loved everyone (1 Peter 2:23).

Many have asked since Jesus is God why did he die for us and seemed so helpless during the cruxifixion and all the torturing that happened?

Answer: He definitely had the power to stop the cruxifixion because he is God but he chose to die for us.

Reason (Why?): Jesus died for us on the cross and it is his will to die for all the sinners. To die for our sins because we are all sinners..For god so loved the world, he is willing to die for our sins so that we will be forgiven. he did it for us because he loves us so much.

John 3:16.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

(see also (1 Peter 2:21; 3:18; 4:1) )

Today, he lives in Heaven and still helping us (Romans 8:34). The New testament John Revelation tells us that one day he will return to us on the 2nd coming of Christ.

In Conclusion, Jesus is actually Son Of Man, Son Of God and he is God!

Why did Jesus Christ die on the cross?

Answer: Human has committed too much sins. Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

Mark 8:31
Then Jesus began to tell them that he, the Son of Man, would suffer many terrible things and be rejected by the leaders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, and three days later he would rise again.(See also Mark 9:31)

Mark 10:32-34
Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus once more began to describe everything that was about to happen to him in Jerusalem. "When we get to Jerusalem," he told them, "the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die and hand him over to the Romans. They will mock him, spit on him, beat him with their whips, and kill him, but after three days he will rise again."

Mark 10: 38
But Jesus answered, "You don't know what you are asking! Are you able to drink from the bitter cup of sorrow I am about to drink? Are you able to be baptized with the baptism of suffering I must be baptized with?"

Mark 10:43-45
Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be the slave of all. For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many."

Mark 14:22-25
As they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread and asked God's blessing on it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "Take it, for this is my body." And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And he said to them, "This is my blood, poured out for many, sealing the covenant between God and his people. I solemnly declare that I will not drink wine again until that day when I drink it new in the Kingdom of God."

John 10:17-18
"Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father."
