Why Christmas? Jesus Christ or Santa Claus?

Christmas or Christmas Day (Old English: Crīstesmæsse, literally "Christ's mass") is an annual commemoration of the birth of JesusChrist, celebrated generally on December 25 as a religious and cultural holiday by billions of people around the world.

The precise day of Jesus’ birth, which historians place between 7 and 2 BC, is unknown. In the early-to-mid 4th century, the WesternChristian Church first placed Christmas on December 25, a date later adopted also in the East.

Many of the popular celebratory customs associated in various countries with Christmas have pre-Christian or secular themes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift giving, Christmas music and caroling, an exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various decorations, including Christmas trees, lights, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, andholly. In addition, several closely related and often interchangeable figures, known as Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas and Kris Kringle among other names, are associated with bringing gifts to children during the Christmas season and have their own body of traditions and lore. Because gift-giving and many other aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, the holiday has become a significant event and a key sales period for retailers and businesses. The economic impact of Christmas is a factor that has grown steadily over the past few centuries in many regions of the world.

How did Jesus pray?

Mark 1:35
Jesus prayed for guidance in places of quiet solitude - “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed”

Luke 5:16
“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed”.

John 17:11
Jesus prayed for His disciples and for all believers -“Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name-the name you gave me-so that they may be one as we are one”.

John 17:20-21
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you”

Luke 10:21
Jesus prayed in praise to God, the Father - “At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, ‘I praise you, Father, lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure’” .

Mark 14:22
Jesus prayed prayers of thanksgiving - “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take it; this is my body’”

Matthew 26:39
Jesus prayed in a posture and with an attitude of reverent submission - “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will’”

Luke 22:44
Jesus prayed in times of anguish – “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground”

Matthew 27:46
“About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?’--which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’”

Matthew 6:5-15
This is “The Lord’s Prayer” when Jesus taught his disciples how to pray.

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Is Jesus Christ God or Man?

You can get more of the info at my other posts and videos.

Jesus Christ is God. He created Adam and Eve, the first man and woman in the garden of Eden in his image. He is the Creator of the whole universe. The Bible says, “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3). This includes all the stars, all the original animalsand plants, and even the angels (Colossians 1:15-17).

There may be confusion on some people that did God created Jesus? No. God did not create Jesus. Jesus is actually God, and he has always existed since the beginning.

Jesus is God by doing many miracles things that only God could do. He resurrected dead to be alive. He walked across a great lake. He made blind eyes see perfectly again. He drove out demons. He healed deadly diseases.

The exciting truth is that Jesus is now also a man, and will remain so for all eternity. He humbled himself to become like one of his own creations. Jesus only claimed that he is the son of man in the beginning. He only claimed that he is the Son of God later. He even did not deny when Matthew called him Son of God.

MATTHEW 14:31-32
Immediately Jesus reached out his and and caught him."You of little faith," he said "Why did you doubt?"
And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshipped him, saying, "Trully you are the Son of God"
Jesus did not deny.

JOHN 20:28-29
Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
Then Jesus told him." Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.".....
Jesus did not deny.

He chose to become a man (in human form) to help us which happened almost 2000 years ago.

The part of God that is called the Holy Spirit created God's human body inside of a woman named Mary(Matthew 1:20). God went into this human body that grew inside of Mary. The baby was born and grew into a man.

At various times in the past, Jesus had appeared to people in human form. One example is when he appeared to Abraham just before the judgment of the evil cities of Sodom andGomorrah. But now, for the first time in history, God did not simply appear as man, he became fully human. Yet, he is still God. He is both God and man. The main difference is that he is SINLESS compared to us.

As a man, God experienced the same temptations that we feel (Hebrews 2:18) (see also Matthew 4:1-11).

1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”

7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ "

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

He suffered the same kind of physical pains that we suffer with. He also experienced emotional pain. He even wept about the city of Jerusalem (John 11:35). He was ignored, unappreciated, unloved, misunderstood, and even despised—even though he did nothing wrong, and always loved everyone (1 Peter 2:23).

Many have asked since Jesus is God why did he die for us and seemed so helpless during the cruxifixion and all the torturing that happened?

Answer: He definitely had the power to stop the cruxifixion because he is God but he chose to die for us.

Reason (Why?): Jesus died for us on the cross and it is his will to die for all the sinners. To die for our sins because we are all sinners..For god so loved the world, he is willing to die for our sins so that we will be forgiven. he did it for us because he loves us so much.

John 3:16.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

(see also (1 Peter 2:21; 3:18; 4:1) )

Today, he lives in Heaven and still helping us (Romans 8:34). The New testament John Revelation tells us that one day he will return to us on the 2nd coming of Christ.

In Conclusion, Jesus is actually Son Of Man, Son Of God and he is God!

Why did Jesus Christ die on the cross?

Answer: Human has committed too much sins. Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

Mark 8:31
Then Jesus began to tell them that he, the Son of Man, would suffer many terrible things and be rejected by the leaders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, and three days later he would rise again.(See also Mark 9:31)

Mark 10:32-34
Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus once more began to describe everything that was about to happen to him in Jerusalem. "When we get to Jerusalem," he told them, "the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die and hand him over to the Romans. They will mock him, spit on him, beat him with their whips, and kill him, but after three days he will rise again."

Mark 10: 38
But Jesus answered, "You don't know what you are asking! Are you able to drink from the bitter cup of sorrow I am about to drink? Are you able to be baptized with the baptism of suffering I must be baptized with?"

Mark 10:43-45
Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be the slave of all. For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many."

Mark 14:22-25
As they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread and asked God's blessing on it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "Take it, for this is my body." And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And he said to them, "This is my blood, poured out for many, sealing the covenant between God and his people. I solemnly declare that I will not drink wine again until that day when I drink it new in the Kingdom of God."

John 10:17-18
"Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father."

For he says, 44"`The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet." Buddha prophesied Jesus

From Buddhist scriptures, the Tipitaka.

Buddha's Date of Birth: approx. 563 Before Christ (BC)

Buddhists believe that one must do "merit" in order to better one's life. They know that people have sin, so each person tries to do "merit" to cover over his sins. But they know that their sins are too great. This is especially difficult on poor people, because they know that to do "merit", one needs money. The way to get money is to be a powerful person, but many powerful people steal and are not just. Often they are corrupt and abuse their power. Money received by doing sin to others is not acceptable merit money. So sin continues because no one is able to have enough merit to take away sin… unless someone so perfect He could have enough merit for Himself and others.

It is interesting that in the Buddhist Scriptures of Cambodia, a prophecy regarding a "Holy One" (who) would come. One who would lead people away from the old way and introduce a new way.

"When Buddha was travelling and living in this world, there was an old Brahman priest who wore white robes who asked the Buddha, "How will all men and all Brahman continue in their merit-making so as to escape the results of sin?" The Buddha answered, "Even though all of you give alms according to the 5 precepts, the 8 precepts, the 10 precepts, or the 227 precepts for 9 trillion years and you raise your hands and offer yourselves as a burnt offering, or you pray 5 times a day, you will still not escape the results of your sins. If you do this every day, your merit gained will only be equal to the smallest strand of hair of an unborn infant extremely small. You shall not enter heaven's doors."

The old Brahman priest asked further, "What are we all to do to be saved?" The Buddha answered the old Brahman priest, "The results of sin and karma are very great, heavier than the sky, thicker than the earth, and so high that it would be like an angel dusting the corner-posts of the temple compound with a cloth post that are 18 inches high dusting them one time per year - until the posts were worn down to the ground. When the posts are worn down, that's how long it would take to end your sins."

The Buddha said further, "I have given up my high position and entered the priesthood. I considered that even though I am good, I would have only a very small amount of merit at the end of the year. If I was given this same amount of merit for 100,000 epochs and live 10 more lifetimes, I would not be saved from sin's results even once.

The old Brahman priest asked further, "So what should we all do?" The Buddha answered, "Keep on making merit and look for another Holy One who will come and help the world and all of you in the future."

Then the old Brahman priest asked, "What will the characteristics of the Holy One be like?" The Buddha answered him, "The Holy One who will keep the world in the future will be like this: in the palms of his hands and in the flat of his feet will be the design of a disc, in the side will be a stab wound; and his forehead will have many marks like scars. This Holy One will be the golden boat who will carry you over the cycle of rebirths all the way to the highest heaven (Nirvana). Do not look for salvation the old way; there is no salvation in it for sure. Quit the old way. And there will be a new spirit like the light of a lightening bug in all of your hearts and you will be victorious over all your enemies. Nobody will be able to destroy you. If you die, you will not come back to be born in this world again. You will go to the highest heaven (Nirvana)."

Permission was granted to copy these Buddhist Scriptures from Wat Phra Sing in ChiangMai Province. The person who gave permission was Phra Sriwisutthiwong in Bangkok. It is guaranteed that there is no error in transmission, which is in the book of the district headman, the religious encyclopaedia volume 23, book #29. This inquiry was made on October 13, 1954 AD, (Buddhist era 2497)) Phra Sriwisutthiwong is the Deputy Abbot and Director of Wat Pho Museum, Wat Pho Temple, Thailand.

A man born in Thailand and who trained as a Buddhist priest told how he read that the Buddha stated in writings the priest read during his studies, that he, the Buddha, was not God, and you would know God had come among us when you saw a man walking on water. This too happened with Jesus Christ, (Matthew 14:22-32; Mark 6:48-50; John 6:16-21). That priest from Thailand decided to follow Jesus Christ, and came to live in New Zealand and led many to become followers of Jesus Christ. He died at an advanced age around 2004, and was delighted to go to heaven with Jesus Christ.

Buddha was correct about the uselessness of trying to earn merit. It is impossible. The Holy One Buddha said would come has come. About five hundred years after Buddha left this world, the prophecy was fulfilled. When Jesus Christ died on the cross to take away human sin, each hand and foot was pierced with a large nail leaving a disc shape (John 20:20); his side was pierced with a spear (John 19:34); and his forehead had many marks on it from the crown of thorns the Romans put on him (John 19:2). Jesus Christ opened up a new way of faith to relate to God so that the old ways of merit could be left behind. Through Jesus Christ alone, one can find perfect assurance that the highest heaven is opened by God's grace. One cannot be a Christian without verbally confessing the deity of Jesus the Christ. One cannot even pray to God, let alone have sin remitted by Him, without approaching Him through Jesus Christ (John 14:6; & 13; 15:16; 16:23-24; Romans 5:2; & Ephesians 2:18.)

We know Muslims and Mormons, Christian Scientists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Unitarians, Scientologists, Jews, Roman Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus, Seventh-Day Adventists and many others will not want to hear this, but the Bible declares that Jesus was the final revelation of God to man (Hebrews 1:1-3) There have been no others.

Did Jesus ever claim to be the Son of God or God?

MATTHEW 16:17
Peter's Confession of Christ
When jesus came to the region of Caesarea Phillippi, he asked his disciples, "who do people say the son of man is?"

They replied :"Some say John the Baptist; Other say Elijah;and still others,Jeremiah or 1 of the prophets."
"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say i am?"

Simon Peter answered. "You are the Christ, the son of the living God."

Jesus replied," Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but my Father in heaven. And i tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock i will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Then he warned his diciples not to tell anyone that he was the christ.

MATTHEW 26:64
Before the Sanherin

"Yes, it say as you say." Jesus replied."But i say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."

Then the high priest tore his clothes and said."He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need anymore witnesses?Look, now you have heart the blasphemy. What do you think?"
"He is worthy of death,".......

JOHN 3:16-17
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son in to the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemn, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has beleived in the name of God's one and only Son......

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

JOHN 20:28-29
Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
Then Jesus told him." Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.".....
Jesus did not deny.

JOHN 6:37-40
"All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."

JOHN 8:56-58
"Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad." "You are not yet fifty years old," the Jews said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!" "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

Luke 22:70
They all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?" He replied, "You are right in saying I am.

JOHN 10:36-38
Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'? Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does. But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.

JOHN 14:6-9
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him." Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us." Jesus said to him, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, 'Show us the Father'?"

JOHN 14:9-11
"Jesus answered: ‘Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, "Show us the Father"? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.’"

MARK 1:9-11
"At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: ‘YOU ARE MY SON, WHOM I LOVE; with you I am well pleased.’"

MARK 9:2-7
"After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.) Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: ‘THIS IS MY SON, WHOM I LOVE. LISTEN TO HIM!’"

REVELATION 1:17-18
"When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: 'Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.'"

REVELATION 22:12-13, 16, 20
"'Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End ... I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star' ... He who testifies to these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon.' Amen. Come, Lord Jesus."

In light of its Old Testament background, the title "the First and the Last" indicates that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only true God:

"This is what the LORD says - Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God." Isaiah 44:6"Listen to me, O Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last." Isaiah 48:12

REVELATION 1:1-3, 10-11
"The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw - that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near ... On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: 'Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.'"

MARK 9:7

MARK 5:6
When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. He shouted at the top of his voice "What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?Swear to God that you won't torture me!"...

JOHN 5:7
Jesus gave them this answer:" I tell you the truth, the son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his father doing, because whatever the Father does the son also does. For the Father loves the son and shows him all he does. Yes, to you amazement he will show him even greater things than these. For just as Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgement to the son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. he who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned he has crossed over from death to life. I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. Do not b amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out - those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgement is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.

JOHN 11:4
When he heard this, Jesus said,"This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it."....

JOHN 17:1
After Jesus said this , he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you the only true god, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent......

JOHN 21:15
When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?"
"Yes, Lord," he said,"you know that i love you."
